Updated December 2016
Each year at the end of January, Sight Loss Shropshire holds a ‘Winter’s Day Out’ to which all visually impaired people in Shropshire, Telford and Wrekin are welcome. The event is normally held at the Shrewsbury Town Football Club.
Around 220 people attend the event each year, which runs from 11:30am to 3:30pm. Coffee is served on arrival followed by a morning entertainment, often something musical, and then a buffet lunch is served. The afternoon starts with a second entertainment, which might be a local celebrity with an interesting topic or tales to tell! Tickets for the event are numbered and the day ends with a raffle and tea.
The next event will be held on Friday 27th January 2017. This year’s entertainment is Music from Salopian Brass in the morning, with Vocal Impressions & Magic from Paul Ray in the afternoon. For more information, or to obtain a ticket, contact the SLS office on 01743 250808.
Sight Loss Shropshire also holds other Special Events at other times of the year. These have included trips on the Severn Valley Railway, visits to Hodnet Gardens, and a cruise on the SS Balmoral at Llandudno.
Details for all these events are advertised on the local Talking Newspapers.
