Each year at the end of January, Sight Loss Shropshire holds a ‘Winter’s Day Out’ to which all visually impaired people in Shropshire, Telford and Wrekin are welcome. Places are free but tickets need to be booked in advance. The event is normally held at the Shrewsbury Town Football Club.
Around 220 people attend this social event each year, which runs from 11am to 3:30pm. Coffee is served on arrival followed by a morning entertainment, often something musical, and then a buffet lunch is served. The afternoon starts with a second entertainment, which might be a local celebrity with an interesting topic or tales to tell! Tickets for the event are numbered and the day ends with a raffle and tea.
Our next Winter’s Day Out will be held on 24th January 2020. The morning entertainment will be music from Tom Wenlock and in the afternoon we will be having a visit from the Exotic Zoo (no spiders or snakes). Tickets are free but must be pre-booked by contacting the Sight Loss Shropshire office on 01743 250808.
